Healthcare analytics is rapidly becoming a recognized core organizational competency for accountable care organizations. As the demand for data and the complexity of healthcare continues to increase, the ability to recruit, train, and build an effective analytics department has grown exponentially more difficult over the past five years.
The analytics strategy at Atrius Health is focused on how to help its practice use data for performance improvement and organizational learning. The strategy included a core technology strategy, but included a new analyst onboarding process including certification expectations, and an analytics knowledge management strategy. The onboarding process has enabled Atrius Health to recruit and retain top-notch analysts in an extremely competitive labor market in the Boston area.
The ability to effectively and efficiently capture, integrate, analyze, report, and utilize data from multiple diverse sources to help drive innovation and organizational improvement is foundational for an adaptive learning organization. As healthcare organizations step forward to become more accountable for population based healthcare value, the demand for more and better data has grown exponentially, as has the demand for an analytics team that can design and maintain the necessary data infrastructure.
